ABOUT THE CHOREOGRAPHER
Bridgette Wilson is currently the Principal of Caribbean School of Dancing.
Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Bridgette trained at the Caribbean School of Dancing (CSD) while attending St. Joseph’s Convent, POS, before obtaining her Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours in Dance from York University in Toronto, Canada (2009). Upon completing her BFA she returned to Trinidad and began teaching Ballet, Jazz and Tap dance at CSD while also taking on the role of Rehearsal Director of and Resident Choreographer for Metamorphosis Dance Company until June 2024.
In Trinidad and Tobago, her work is seen at many national and cultural events with a particular focus on Carnival through her work with multiple Band of The Year 2024 winner The Lost Tribe since its inception, as well as various soca artistes. Wilson was the lead choreographer on the 2021 award winning film “LAVWAY” and was featured in the dance documentary “It’s Just A Little Wine?” in the same year. Most recently, Wilson was the lead choreographer for the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Youth Games held in Trinidad in 2023.
Outside of Trinidad and Tobago, her work has traveled regionally and internationally to Suriname (2013), Costa Rica (2014) and Scotland (2015) as a part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to name a few. Wilson is the first recipient of the COCO Choreographer’s Award (2012) at Trinidad and Tobago’s highlight dance event, COCO Dance Festival and was nominated for a National Youth Award in 2017. She holds an Associate in Modern Theatre Dance from The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (2005) as well as a Certificate of Higher Education in Ballet Teaching from the Royal Academy of Dance (2016) and recently gained Registered Teacher Status from the same academy. As a recipient of the 2016/17 Leverhulme Arts Scholarships for Choreography, Wilson was able to complete her Masters of Arts in Choreography before returning home in 2017 to take on her current role.
